Description

In vivo 80–330 × 10–35 µm. Body elongate-cylindrical to fusiform, flexible, slightly contractile; oral region head-like (indistinct after impregnation); oral bulge protruding. Extrusomes 6–10 µm long, rod-shaped, in oral bulge and body. Cortical granules colourless, between kineties. Somatic kineties 10–14, longitudinal, those on ‘head’ distinctly spiralled. Circumoral kinety indistinct. Brosse 4-rowed, composed of dikinetids (cilia 10 µm long); row 3 distinctly elongate. Macronuclear nodules > 100. Contractile vacuole terminal. Movement: slowly gliding, rotating about main body axis when swimming in a straight line.
