[after Hasle & Syvertsen (1997)] Cells solitary, discoid. Valves 80–120 µm diameter; central hyaline area occupying c. one-third of valve diameter; 7 hyaline rays, one markedly narrower than the others, extending from centre almost to periphery of valve. Separating lines within the central area obscurely bent or with small branchlets in the middle. Peripheral sectors areolate; areolae 9–11 in 10 µm.
Southern Ocean (Priddle & Fryxell, 1985); Wilkes Land, East Antarctica (Bunt & Wood, 1963).
This is regarded as a predominantly warm-water species (Simonsen, 1974). Although not seen by us, it is included here due to having been reported from the Southern Ocean and Wilkes Land.
