Description
Cells solitary, discoid, thick-walled. Valves circular, flat, 35–200 µm diameter. Central rosette of areolae absent. Areolae coarse, 1–4 in 10 µm, in irregular radial rows. Marginal area prominent, with a ring of labiate processes (not visible by LM) 2–10 areolae apart. Chloroplasts small, spherical.

Ross Sea (Watanabe, 1982); Bransfield Strait (Boden, 1985); Amundsen Sea, 70°50’S 102°13’W, “Belgica ” (van Heurck, 1909).
