Description

Cells solitary, discoid. Valves circular, flat or slightly convex, 180–260 µm diameter. Central rosette of c. 5 areolae, conspicuous. Areolae small near the centre, increasing in size towards the margin, arranged radially. Chloroplasts small, spherical.

South Georgia (Hendey, 1937); Ross Sea (Watanabe, 1982); Weddell Sea (Garrison & Buck, 1989b); Bransfield Strait (Priddle, 1985); Weddell-Scotia Sea (Garrison et al., 1987).
