Description

Cells long, cylindrical, comparatively weakly silicified. Valves conical; apical axis 5–48 µm. Process uniformly tapering, often conical, 15–20 µm long. Otaria, contiguous area and claspers absent. Intercalary girdle bands in 2–4 dorsiventral columns, finely areolate.

Distribution

Oceanic sub-Antarctic regions (Hasle, 1969; Semina, 1979); Heard I. (Manguin, 1954); Bellingshausen and Weddell Seas (Ligowski, 1993).
