Description

(After Dodge 1982). Cells ellipsoidal, 16-30 µm long, 9-18 µm diameter. Epitheca with straight sides and rounded apex; hypotheca conical. Cingulum equitorial, strongly incised and displaced by 0.5 cingular widths. Cingular and sulcal lists absent. Sulcus inconspicuous, not reaching the antapex. Typical plate formula 5', 3a, 7'', 6c, 7s, 5''', 1p, 2''''. Cell contents dense with a brown peripheral cholorplast. Tiny scales present over the surface of the cell (Pennick & Clark, 1977).
