Description

Cells rounded, c. 20 µm long, c. 17 µm diameter. Epitheca clearly visible above the cingular list. Hypotheca c. 4 times the length of the epitheca. A characteristic large pore visible on the epitheca above the sulcus. Cingulum 4–5 µm wide, deeply incised; anterior and posterior cingular lists smooth, comparatively narrow and projected laterally. Left sulcal list c. three-quarters length of hypotheca, with 3 clearly visible rays. Surface areolate, with large scattered pores on both thecae.

Distribution

Southern Ocean, 44–62°S, south of Australia; Antarctic (Balech, 1976).
