Description

Cells top-shaped, 88–100 µm long (including spines), 16–20 µm diameter. Epitheca tapered, ending in an apical pore and a short apical spine, covered with scattered pores. Hypotheca smooth, with several rows of densely packed pores at antapical margin, rounded, with 3 conspicuous antapical spines, the longest c. 20 µm; spines interconnected by membranes. Cingulum scarcely visible. Tabulation 3', 1a, 5'', 3c, 4–6s, 5''', 1'''', 1a, 5.

Distribution

Southern Ocean, 43–56°S, south of Australia; type locality, Weddell Sea (Balech & El-Sayed, 1965); Antarctic (Balech, 1976); South Georgia (Dodge & Priddle, 1987).
