Description

Cells pyriform, 16–36 µm long, 20–23 µm diameter. Thecae with scattered poroids; epitheca conical, with a short convex apical process and collar; hypotheca rounded. Cingulum broad, indented, with narrow cingular lists. Chloroplasts present.

Distribution

Southern Ocean, 64°S, south of Australia; widely distributed in middle and low latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere (Wall et al., 1970).
