Cells with pronounced metaboly, 21-32 µm long, 11-20 µm wide at the widest point, biflagellate. Long flagellum 36 µm long; short flagellum 20 µm long. Pellicular bands 9 in 10 µm, straight. Reservoir system small.
Coastal waters off Davis Station, East Antarctica.
The material collected appears to be a species of Eutreptiella due to its unequal and anteriorly directed flagella. However, the striations are comparatively coarse (9 in 10 µm) and are straight, not helical as is characteristic of this genus.
